Our Story

Rooted in Charleston’s Musical Soil

Long before the name “Sound  Farm” sprouted, our building at 2612  Larch  Lane was known as Charleston Sound Studios — a 2,000‑square‑foot space designed by renowned acoustician Wes Lachot and precision‑built by Brett Acoustics. For more than a decade, those walls captured hit records, national voice‑over sessions, and award‑winning post‑production work. When the studio’s original owners stepped away, the rooms went quiet — but the creative energy lingered, waiting for new caretakers.

The Revival

In March of 2025 we walked through the empty live room and immediately heard possibility in the air. Rather than simply reopen the doors, we envisioned a studio that could serve every branch of Charleston’s creative community: musicians, filmmakers, podcasters, content creators, and producers from near and far.

Why “Sound  Farm”?

A farm is where things grow. Tracks become albums, demos become singles, ideas become stories. We wanted a name that captured that sense of cultivation without losing the studio’s technical pedigree. Thus, Sound Farm — where we cultivate frequencies™ and nurture projects from seed to final harvest.

Building  the  Farm

How an empty studio shell became Charleston’s newest creative hub.

A Lease, a Vision, and a Lot of Dust

In May 2025 we signed the lease on a silent, dust‑covered space once known as Charleston Sound Studios. The bones were legendary — Wes Lachot acoustics, Brett Acoustics craftsmanship — but years of neglect left loose cables, tired gear, and carpet that had seen one too many drum sessions. Our goal: keep the sonic pedigree, re‑imagine everything else.

What We Kept

  • The Signature Sound – Wes Lachot’s room ratios and reflective surfaces remain untouched.

  • The Wall of History – Previous gold‑ and platinum‑disc photos now share space with new Polaroids of our founding artists.

What We Re‑Invented

  • Camera‑Ready Infrastructure –Ceiling‑mounted power and hidden cable runs mean you can light, shoot, and record without gaffer‑tape mazes.

  • Creator Comforts – Sun‑drenched lobby, vibe‑heavy writing room, and a kitchen built for marathon sessions.

  • Eco‑Minded Materials – Low‑VOC paint, reclaimed‑wood diffusers, LED house lighting, and vintage pieces.

Renovation, Reimagined

While preserving the original Wes Lachot acoustic blueprint, we set out to modernize:

  • Heightened diffusion, flexible gobos, and improved sightlines.

  • Tuned for vocals, amps, ADR, and more.

  • SSL analogue front end, high‑resolution conversion, and Adam Audio monitoring.

  • We redesigned every room with cameras in mind — easy line‑of‑sight between rooms, rolling gobos that double as video backdrops, and pre‑wired lighting points mean you can capture BTS photos or multi‑camera sessions the moment inspiration hits. Roll straight from tracking to reels, live‑session videos, or product photos without moving a single mic stand.

  • Sun‑Drenched Lobby – floor‑to‑ceiling windows, greenery, and a pre‑session espresso bar.

Writing & Brainstorm Room – vintage keys, whiteboards, soft seating — perfect for lyric tweaks and late‑night epiphanies.

Refreshed Kitchen – full fridge, fresh tile, endless coffee; because great takes need great snacks.

Upgraded Bathroom Suite – brand‑new tile, moody lighting, and an all‑around glow‑up so you actually brag about the restroom.
