Field Note #1: Rooted in History, Growing into the Future

A Charleston Studio With Proven Roots

At 2612 Larch Lane stands a 2,000-square-foot facility originally crafted by acoustician and designer Wes Lachot and precision-built by Brett Acoustics. Operating for over a decade as Charleston Sound Studios, the rooms logged regional chart hits, national voice-over projects, and award-winning post-production work. This track record is the solid foundation from which Sound Farm is growing its next chapter.

From Storied Rooms to a Shared Creative Hub

Our resident producer and co‑founder, Noah Riley McGrath, first walked through these doors in 2018 as an eager intern. Three years ago he returned as the studio’s lead engineer, refining his craft inside these very walls. When the previous owners stepped away, we seized the chance to preserve the room’s legendary acoustics and broaden its mission. Today, Sound Farm is evolving into a true creative commons — musicians, filmmakers, podcasters, and digital storytellers working shoulder‑to‑shoulder, trading gear, ideas, and inspiration under one roof.

Bundled offerings that combine tracking, video, visual branding, and release strategy under one roof.

Filling a Creative Gap in Charleston

Charleston’s arts scene is flourishing, yet there is no single venue where an indie band can track an album, a filmmaker can capture ADR, and a podcaster can record an episode - then walk down the hall to shoot photos, edit video, and plan a release. Sound Farm aims to be that hub. By offering cross-disciplinary rooms, shared lounges, and flexible day-rates, we intend to spark collaboration among musicians, videographers, producers, and digital storytellers who might not otherwise meet.
